Sofia C. Luna is a highly dedicated Physician assistant, and we are excited to introduce her as the newest addition to our wonderful team of mid-level providers at PAK Medical Group. Sofia is from the Rio Grande Valley and brings 25 years of experience in Family Practice. She is fluent in English and Spanish. She is personable, a good listener, and is focused on providing quality care for her patients. During her tenure, she has focused on the treatment of diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, COPD, CAD, and other diseases related to complications resulting from metabolic syndrome. She also has extensive practice in treating perimenopausal and menopausal women, hormone replacement therapy for men and women and pediatric and adolescent care. Sofia graduated from The University of Texas at Pan American with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She was certified by the NCCPA in 2004. During her undergraduate studies, Sofia served as a teacher’s assistant for introductory biology lab courses where she developed an interest in research. She has been involved in multiple ongoing studies related to the treatment of diabetes in obese patients under the age of 45. She has proven success in the treatment of morbid obesity and has helped many patients achieve better health.
Sofia is a grandmother of 5 and loves to spend her spare time spoiling her grandchildren. She loves to cook and is a dedicated wife and mother. Sofia serves her community in the catholic church and is passionate and driven in helping those in need.
