Dr. Filomeno Gonzalez is a distinguished family medicine physician whose career spans clinical excellence, executive leadership, and military service. Known for his analytical mind, compassionate care, and commitment to continuous improvement, Dr. Gonzalez brings a rare blend of medical expertise and strategic insight to every patient interaction.

A proud graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr. Gonzalez earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics with a minor in Systems Engineering. He served honorably as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army stationed in Bamberg, Germany, rising to the rank of Captain and receiving full honors upon discharge.

Dr. Gonzalez earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was recognized with multiple honors including the Gold-Headed Cane Award and the W.D. and Laura Nell Nicholson Award in Family Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and simultaneously earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, demonstrating his dedication to both clinical and organizational excellence.

His career includes leadership roles as Regional Medical Director, Area Medical Director, and Center Medical Director across Texas. He earned the recognition as Comal County Physician of the Year in 2012 and received the Humana Excellence And Leadership (HEAL) Award in 2016. Since 2018, Dr. Gonzalez has been a valued member of Pak Medical Group, where he continues to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care to families in New Braunfels and surrounding communities.

Dr. Gonzalez is board-certified, a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and trained in medical acupuncture through UCLA’s Helms Medical Institute. His research contributions span pharmacology, neuroscience, and process improvement.

Outside of his professional achievements, Dr. Gonzalez exercises regularly and enjoys running and playing squash, singing with his church choir along with a local German choir, and learning languages to include being conversant in Spanish, German, and Tagalog.  He values integrity, service, and excellence in all areas of life but of all his accomplishments, he is most proud of his three grown children.
