15 Oct MMM receives Puerto Rico’s only 4.5-star quality rating, sets standard for coordinated care
San Juan, P.R. – Orlando González, Esq., president of MMM, announced today that MMM Healthcare, with its two HMO contracts, is the only health plan in Puerto Rico to receive 4.5 stars, out of 5, in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) ratings program for 2020 — setting once again the highest standard of health care for the island’s Medicare beneficiary population.
“We have attained the goal of being the only plan to keep its 4.5 Stars, which ratifies our consistency in the quality of the services offered to our members throughout the years. While we acknowledge the federal quality measurement program’s complexity and strictness, this accomplishment confirms that quality continues to be our priority,” expressed González.
González explained that reaching 4.5 stars for the third time allows the healthcare plan to receive additional funding that will become direct advantages for MMM members as services and improved benefits in their coverage. This fund granting as a result of CMS’s evaluation of the plan’s quality of services will be available for year 2021.
“As leaders and the first Medicare Advantage health plan established in Puerto Rico, we feel the responsibility of keeping the highest standard in providing services for the members. This achievement is, without a doubt, the outcome of team work with our providers, doctors, and our members’ own willingness, to take responsibility of their health,” stated the president.
MMM was the first plan to reach a 4.5-star rating and is the first company that has been able to keep this classification for the third year in a row. Nationwide, these results place the company in the top 10% of all of the Medicare Advantage plans contracted with CMS.
As part of the evaluation, MMM attained 5 stars in preventive clinical care measures and stood out in the metrics related to the plan’s administrative operations focused on the level of quality of the services provided to patients. It also stood out island-wide for its superb level of pharmacological management.
