Fort Lee, N.J. – October 25, 2016 – Officials with InnovaCare, Inc., a leading Medicaid and Medicare Advantage organization providing healthcare-related services in Puerto Rico, are pleased to announce one of the organization’s subsidiaries, MSO of Puerto Rico, has been included in the California Association of Physician Groups’ (CAPG) annual “Case Studies in Excellence.” CAPG is the leading association in the country representing physician organizations practicing capitated, coordinated care.
The 2016 Case Studies in Excellence report showcases the work of selected participants in CAPG’s national Standards of Excellence (SOE) member survey. This voluntary self-assessment enables physician groups to evaluate the tools and processes in place for delivering risk-based coordinated care, providing a roadmap for continually improving quality and value.
“With the ongoing changes the healthcare industry continues to place on independent physicians, we needed to build physician support for our initiatives, engage patients in a more effective manner, and figure out how to collect data in a more timely and cost-effective way,” said InnovaCare President and Chief Executive Officer Richard Shinto, M.D. “As we looked to add resources to address this issue, we eventually realized the solution was true engagement by providers’ office staff. The strategy we built, called Office Advantage, has shown to be an effective way to improve performance of our independent practice associations (IPAs) and their individual clinicians at a fraction of the cost.”
In each study, a CAPG member physician organization identifies a challenge faced in its quest to improve the quality of healthcare provided to patients. The group then describes an intervention or program they developed to address that challenge, and reports the results achieved.
“InnovaCare remains constantly committed to developing outstanding and cost-effective models, fully integrated with today’s most advanced technologies, to transform healthcare management,” said Penelope Kokkinides, InnovaCare’s Chief Administrative Officer. “The CAPG member survey allowed us to evaluate our existing methods to ensure that we are continuing to uphold our standards of sustainable, quality care, and we are extremely proud of MSO’s selection.”
