Dr. Richard Shinto is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of InnovaCare, Inc. He has been CEO of MMM Healthcare since 2008. Previously, from 2008 until its sale in 2012, he also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Aveta Inc.
Dr. Shinto has more than 20 years of clinical and operational healthcare experience in managed care. Prior to being named CEO of Aveta Inc., he served as CEO of NAMM California. Before joining NAMM, Dr. Shinto was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer for Medical Pathways Management Company. He served as Corporate Vice President of Medical Management for MedPartners from 1995-1997, before he left to become Chief Medical Officer for Cal Optima Health Plan (Medicaid) in Orange County, California. Dr. Shinto began his medical tenure as an internist and pulmonologist practicing in Southern California.
In 2017, Dr. Shinto was elected to serve on the board of directors for America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the industry’s largest trade association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for CAPG, the leading association representing physician organizations practicing the delegated coordinated care model. He has served on other healthcare-related boards including the Financial Solvency Standards Board for California Department of Managed Care.
The author of several articles on healthcare and clinical medicine, Dr. Shinto received his B.S. from the University of California at Irvine, his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and an M.B.A. from the University of Redlands.
